Premarital counseling
Marriage counseling, also called couples therapy, is a type of psychotherapy. Marriage counseling helps couples to identify differences and problems, resolve problems and improve their relationship. Through the psychology of marriage, thoughtful and logical decisions can be made to restore and strengthen the relationship.
Marriage counseling is often done by licensed therapists called marriage counselors and family counselors. Couples therapy is often done with the presence of both people. But sometimes, one of the couple may go for counseling alone. Or sometimes, at the discretion of the psychologist, and to better identify the problems, individual counseling sessions are conducted.
Why should you use marriage counseling?
Marriage counseling can help couples in all aspects of a relationship (not just sex). Some couples seek marriage psychology to strengthen their relationship and gain a better understanding of each other. In addition to this, couples who are planning to get married can also use psychologist’s guidance. Premarital counseling helps couples get a deeper understanding and better knowledge of each other and resolve differences before marriage.
Couples refer to psychologists and marriage counselors to solve the following problems:
Communication problems
Sexual problems
Conflict over child rearing
Drug abuse
anger
Betrayal
Marriage counseling about domestic violence can also be helpful. But if the violence escalates to the point where your life is in danger, you should definitely call the police.
